WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Dec. 14) – The Waynesburg University wrestling team used four forfeits and two pins to pick up 36 points during its 45-6 win over Muskingum on Friday night at the Rudy Marisa Fieldhouse.
 
The Yellow Jackets (1-5) got things started with the quickest pin of the night, which was turned in by freshman Gordan Bieber. The freshman 125-pounder stuck freshman Ahmad Taylor in 2:21 to put his team up 6-0 early on. Forfeits to senior Alex Crown (133), sophomore Aaron Mills (141) and junior Dan Bruni (149) pushed the Jackets ahead 24-0 and put them well on their way to victory.
 
When action resumed at 157 pounds, Waynesburg junior Sam Lombardo tangled with Muskingum (0-5) freshman Garland McCormick. The two battled for seven minutes and went into overtime tied at 5-5. Lombardo pulled out the win early in sudden victory with a takedown to bring about the final score of 7-5 and put Waynesburg ahead 27-0.
 
After sophomore Sam Guidi collected the final forfeit of the night at 165 pounds, junior Anthony Bonaventura scored an 8-2 decision win over Joe Dismuke to make the score 36-0 in favor of the Jackets. The home team's lead grew to 39-0 thanks to a 9-2 decision by senior Cody Catalina, before the Muskies picked up a fall at 197 to score their only points of the match.
 
Junior heavyweight Brandon Fedorka put an exclamation point on the night with his first win of the year, which came with pin off a cradle in 4:04 to wrap up the 45-6 win.
 
Waynesburg now steps away from the mats for a well-deserved Christmas break and will return to competition on Saturday, Jan. 5, when the Yellow Jackets host their annual invitational. Start time for the 13-team event is scheduled for 9 a.m.
