WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Jan. 26) – The Waynesburg University wrestling team went 3-0 at Thursday night's home quad-match that featured Penn State Beaver, Penn State Fayette and Penn State Greater Allegheny.

The Yellow Jackets have now won four-straight dual matches and move over .500 at 9-8 overall with wins of 51-3 over Greater Allegheny, 54-0 over Beaver and 46-9 over Fayette. Waynesburg was the only team of the four competing that could fill all 10 of its weight classes for all three matches.

The Jackets were led by sophomore Dan Bruni, who went 3-0 with two wins by major decision and victory by pin, which he picked up in just 31 seconds over Allegheny's Soham Salvi. Junior 125-pounder Alex Crown also went 3-0 (two forfeits, one pin), as did freshman Jake Vitolo (two forfeits, one pin) and sophomore 184-pounder Anthony Bonaventura (two forfeits, one pin).

The night featured an excellent opportunity for Waynesburg's younger wrestlers to gain valuable experience, as 20 different Jackets saw mat time. Greater Allegheny went 2-1 on the evening, Beaver went 1-2 and Fayette went 0-3 on the evening.

The Jackets will look to continue their current winning streak on Wednesday, Feb. 1, when they travel to Greenville to face off with their rivals from Thiel in the final Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) match of the year. Start time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
