NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. (Sept. 3) – The Waynesburg University women's cross country team ran a second strong race in three days when they competed in the Fisher Invitational, which was hosted by Westminster College on Saturday.
Led by sophomore All-Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) runner
Bre Paul, the Yellow Jackets placed fourth in the 16-team field and second amongst conference teams. Paul placed seventh overall out of 188 runners. The second-year standout was the second-highest PAC finisher with a time of 24:41.6, placing only behind the individual medalist, Ivette Mejia of Saint Vincent.
The Jackets received two more top-31 performances, courtesy of senior
Michelle Naymick (29
th, 26:12.2) and freshman Joy Talbott (31
st, 26:18.3). Waynesburg's top five was completed by sophomore
Tiffany Onifer, who crossed the finish line in 26:25.4, good for 31
st overall, and freshman Jennifer Lingg, whose time of 27:13.0 placed her 41
st overall.
The team title went to Division II Clarion, who were followed by Grove City in second and Franciscan in third. The individual top three was composed of Mejia, who run the race with a time of 22:49.0, Alderson-Broaddus' Ashley Teets and Franciscan's Nicole Krajewski.
Waynesburg's next race will be its annual home invitational, which takes place on Saturday, Sept. 10 at the Greene County Airport.
