Recent track grad lauded for outstanding achievement in the classroom

NEW ORLEANS, La. (Aug. 4) – For the fourth-straight year, recent Waynesburg graduate Elisha Jones was honored by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) as a member of its All-Academic Team.

Jones, who earned a degree in athletic training, graduated with a 3.90 cumulative GPA and will be remembered as one of the greatest athletes, male or female, in any sport at Waynesburg University. She was the school's only two-time track All-American, qualified for the Division III National Championships three times and won three Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) javelin titles.

The Russell, Pa. native was also a standout on the basketball court and ended her four-year playing career with 1,372 points and 621 rebounds.

To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 and have met either the NCAA Division III indoor or outdoor automatic or provisional qualifying standard.
