MEADVILLE, Pa. (May 14) – The Waynesburg University women's track team took part in its final regular season competition of the 2010-11 season on Friday, when it traveled to Allegheny College to take part in the Gator Invitational.
Sophomore Megan Donovan put together a strong performance in the track events by placing third in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 11:52.62.
In the field events, sophomore
Jaimee Post just missed out on claiming the women's long jump title after placing second with a leap of 4.95 meters (16' 3”). Senior
Elisha Jones, freshman
Megan Sowers and junior
Marybeth Rocco placed sixth, seventh and ninth, respectively, in the javelin. Jones put up the team's best distance in the event with a toss of 38.62 meters (126' 8”).
There was no team scoring at the Gator Invitational.
With the regular season schedule completed, several members of the Yellow Jacket women's team are currently gearing up for this year's Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships, which will be hosted by Moravian College on May 19 and 20. A release listing all of the Jackets making the trip will be posted soon.
