Longo named Academic All-District

Sophomore pitcher lauded for work on the mound and in the classroom

WAYNESBURG, Pa. (May 10) – Sophomore Anthony Longo was recently lauded for his accomplishments both on the baseball diamond and in the classroom.
 
The second-year righty was recently named to the Capital One Academic All-District II second team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Longo combined solid numbers on the field (3-5, 4.74 ERA, 18 strikeouts) with a 3.52 cumulative GPA while pursuing a degree in wellness/physiology. Longo was honored as the first Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Pitcher of the Week for the 2011 season on March 7.
 
To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must at least be a sophomore at their present institution, be a starter or key reserve and hold a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or greater. For a complete list of all of this year's baseball honorees, click here.
