WAYNESBURG, Pa. (April 8) – A hat trick by senior
Maria Shepas highlighted Waynesburg's home match against Division II Tiffin University on Friday night.
Unfortunately, Shepas' three goals were all that the Yellow Jackets could muster against the Dragons, who took the game by the final score of 21-3. The loss dropped Waynesburg to 1-6, while Tiffin improved to 6-5.
Shepas' first goal came 3:30 into the game after the Dragons built a 9-0 lead. The Jacket standout cut the deficit down to 9-2 46 seconds later on her second of the day. Unfortunately, Waynesburg's final goal didn't come until just over two minutes into the second half. At that point, Tiffin's lead had grown to 19-2 and the visitors were well on their way to the win. However, that final goal gave another major team record to Shepas, who broke the program's single-season goal mark with her 17th of the year.
