Senior safety named to 2011 Capital One/CoSIDA Division III Academic All-District Team

WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Nov. 10) – Senior safety Ryan Williams is known for his excellence on the football field as the team's leading tackler in 2011. However, the Columbiana, Ohio native has also received applause for his excellence in the classroom by being named to the 2011 Capital One/CoSIDA Division III Academic All-District Team on Thursday.

Williams, who was selected to the District IV team, carries a 3.48 cumulative GPA while pursuing a degree in wellness. On the field, the 5-11, 220-pounder paces the Jackets and is ranked sixth in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) with 67 total tackles. He is coming off an 11-tackle showing in the Jackets' 26-23 upset win over Thomas More this past Saturday. Williams also recorded 1.5 tackles for loss and two pass breakups.

Williams is now eligible for selection to the 2011 Capital One/CoSIDA Division III Academic All-American Team. To be considered for all-district laurels, nominees must have at least a 3.30 grade-point average and be a sophomore, junior or senior.
