Women's cross country runs at DeSales Invitational

Sophomore Bre Paul puts together impressive 32nd-place showing in 424-woman event

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. (Oct. 8) – Following two weeks off from competition, the Waynesburg women's cross country team returned to action this past Saturday at the DeSales University Invitational.
 
The Yellow Jackets finished in 12th place out of 41 teams competing at the event, which was broken up into a blue race and a red race. The Jackets placed a respectable 6th in the 18-team red race and were led by sophomore Bre Paul, who placed a team-best 19th out of the 219-woman field.
 
Freshman Joy Talbott put together one of her best collegiate performances by crossing the finish line in 28th place with a time of 25:31.25. Waynesburg's top three was completed by junior Megan Donovan, who recorded a 45th-place time of 26:05.91.
 
Dickinson junior Catherine Campbell took top individual honors in the red race with a time of 22:51.25. The race's top three was completed by second-place finisher Ivette Mejia of Saint Vincent, who finished with a time of 23:06.08, and Dickinson's Taylor Ludman, who recorded a time of 23:12.67. Dickinson, Kutztown and Grove City finished 1-2-3 in the red race's team standings.
 
The race's overall team title went to Dickinson with Kutztown taking second and Marywood finishing third. The red race's top three individuals were also the top overall performers on the day.
 
The Jacket women are back in action on Saturday, Oct. 15, when they travel to the Oberlin Inter-Regional Rumble.
