Men's cross country runs at PAC Championships

Yellow Jackets place seventh; Dugan crosses finish line in 33rd place

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. (Oct. 29) – The Waynesburg University men's cross country team ran at the 2011 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) on Saturday. The event was hosted by Westminster College.
 
The Yellow Jackets placed seventh out of the nine teams competing with 177 points and were led by freshman Brandon Dugan, who finished a Waynesburg-best 33rd out of 100 individual runners. Dugan crossed the finish line in 29:24.10. Sophomore Jonathan Blatt (37th place, 29:31.20), freshman Luke Feldner (43rd place, 29:50.70) and freshman John Allison (44th place, 29:53.80) also finished in the top half of the field for the Jackets.
 
Saint Vincent won its second PAC team title in just its second season as a member of the conference with 35 points. Thiel finished in a distant second place with 70, while traditional conference powerhouse Grove City placed third with 76 points.
 
Individual medalist honors went to Saint Vincent's Kevin Wanichko, who crossed the finish line 26:37.30. He was followed by Washington & Jefferson's Scott Ryan (26:46) in second place and Thiel's Richard Peterson (26:56.40) in third.
 
Waynesburg returns to competition on Nov. 11, 2011, when the Yellow Jackets compete at the NCAA Division III Mideast Regional Championships in Center Valley, Pa.
