ERIE, Pa. (Oct. 22) – The Waynesburg University women's tennis team completed its two-day run at the 2011 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Championships on Saturday at Pennbriar Athletic Club.
The Yellow Jackets tied Geneva and Thomas More for fifth place at the event with four points. Waynesburg was led by senior
Jessica Kody, who placed fourth at fifth singles after battling through a three-set match with second seeded Emily Morris of Saint Vincent. The veteran Jacket dropped a 6-3, 1-6, 6-0 contest in her final collegiate match.
Waynesburg was also represented in day two by the freshman pair of
Madison DuBrock and
Ellen Limback, who placed fourth at third doubles as the number-four seed. The first-year pair dropped an 8-3 match in the third place contest.
Grove City won its 25
th-straight conference team title with 48 points, giving the champs 11 more than second-place Westminster (37) and 18 more than third-place Saint Vincent (30). The Wolverines won all three of the tournament's doubles brackets and added individual championships at first, fourth and fifth singles. Grove City senior Stacey Moon was named 2011 PAC MVP after taking the title at first singles and making up one half of the Wolverines' championship first doubles pair. GCC head man Joe Walters was named PAC Coach of the Year.
