Jackets picked to finish third at PAC Football Media Day

Two-time defending champions Thomas More picked to three-peat

LATROBE, Pa. (Aug. 4) – Waynesburg University was picked to finish third  in the  poll taken at the 2010 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Football Media Day, which was hosted by Saint Vincent College.

After meeting for lunch, coaches and sports information directors from the nine schools along with media representatives in the conference that sponsor football, along with gathered media representatives, met for the day's presentations. Each coach then approached the podium to address the crowd about his respective team.

Yellow Jackets head coach Rick Shepas, who is entering his sixth year with the program, opened by expressing his appreciation to Waynesburg President Timothy R. Thyreen and the rest of the school's administration for their tireless efforts in upgrading and adding to the school's facilities, which have aided in the team's recruiting.

“We're talented and we're dangerous, but there are no easy games in this league,” Shepas said. “We've got to do the right things, but we'll do what we have to do.”

The two-time defending PAC champions from Thomas More were picked to finish first, followed by Washington & Jefferson. Grove City was chosen to pick fourth, Westminster fifth, Thiel sixth, Bethany seventh and Saint Vincent, which is entering its first year as full members of the conference, was picked to finish eighth. The poll was voted on by the coaches, SID's and media members gathered at the event. For a complete look at this year's poll results click here.

The Jackets are coming off of a 5-5 2009 campaign with a 2-4 mark in PAC play. Waynesburg opens the 2010 season at Wilkes on Sept. 11.
