Jacket volleyball picked to finish eighth in PAC

Waynesburg spikers look to exceed expectations in 2010

WAYNESBURG, Pa. (August 31) – The Waynesburg University women's volleyball team was picked to finish eight in the upcoming 2010 volleyball season, according to a preseason poll of Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) volleyball coaches.

The Yellow Jacket women replaced five of their graduating starters from the 2008 season and finished in seventh place a year ago, going 6-20 with a 3-11 record in conference play.

Outside hitter Jordan Barton is expected to lead the attack for a second-straight season. She is coming off her sophomore season in which she finished seventh in the PAC in kills per set (2.78)

After both a full season of play, in which both freshmen and sophomores gained valuable collegiate playing experience, and an offseason of hard work, the Jackets will look to build upon that experience by growing as a unit in hopes of surpassing expectations.

The defending PAC champions from Thomas More were picked to repeat in 2010, receiving seven of the 10 first place votes. Thiel College received the remaining three first place votes and was slated for a second place finish in the poll.
