Oviatt lauded by NCBWA

Sophomore pitcher picked up win and save during 10 innings pitched

WAYNESBURG, Pa. (May 6) – After playing a role in two of Waynesburg's three wins during the week of April 26, sophomore Ben Oviatt was honored by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) this past Thursday.

Oviatt was honored as an honorable mention NCAA Division III NCBWA Pitcher of the Week after recording a 0.90 ERA and picking up a win and a save during 10 innings pitched for the Yellow Jackets, who went 3-2 last week. He threw all eight innings of Waynesburg's 4-3 extra-inning win against Geneva on April 27. The lefty gave up just five hits and one earned run, while walking four and striking out one.

During his second appearance of the week, Oviatt allowed just a walk as he worked the eighth and ninth innings of a 12-9 win over Thomas More on May 1 to record a save. For his efforts, Oviatt was also named Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Pitcher of the Week.
