WAYNESBURG, Pa. (May 6) – With final exams wrapping up and students packing up for the summer, its time to announce the final Waynesburg Athletes of the Week for the 2009-10 school year.

Sophomores Kenny Grant and Krystal Baker pick up the final set of awards for the school year after putting forth some impressive individual efforts.

Grant more than doubled his RBI total for the season after driving 13 in runs during five starts for the Yellow Jackets, who went 3-2 from April 26 to May 1. He picked up 11 of his RBI during a seven-inning doubleheader against Thomas More on April 30. He hit .471 (8-17) with a double, his first homerun of the season and four runs scored. In the field, Grant didn’t commit an error and picked up an outfield assist.

Grant was also named Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) Hitter of the Week.

Baker was named 2010 PAC Women’s Field Athlete of the Year following her performance at the PAC Track & Field Championships this past weekend. The second-year standout won a pair of individual championships at this year’s event. She took first in the triple jump (10.96 meters, 35’ 11.5”) and added a second win in the jumping events after winning the high jump with a leap of 1.63 meters (5’ 4.5). Baker’s effort in the high jump also set a new Waynesburg program record.
