WAYNESBURG, PA (Apr. 30) – The Jackets proved to be too much as they downed the Alumni 3 sets to 1 in-front of an exuberant crowd Saturday April 10th in the Rudy Marisa Field House.  The win brings the all-time series between the two squads to an even draw.

The Alumni fell behind early losing two sets straight before rallying back to win set three.  The Jackets would channel the win in set four taking the match (3-1).  Junior outside hitter, Jake Reynolds and junior right side hitter Jesse Famularocombined for 21 points while junior setter Jake Buss finished the night with 36 assists.

The Yellow Jackets offense was backed up by a great day of floor defense with a team total 23 digs and 11 blocks.  Coach Patterson, who played for the alumni, attributed the loss to the balanced performance by his men on the other side of the net.  “We have had a lot of success with our new offensive system all year and it gave the alumni fits all day but more impressively, the floor defense and the reads by their back row stole a lot of points from us.  It was a good win for them!”

With the season over, the Jackets have begun preparing for next spring. The annual summer Black n Orange Day will take place in mid July.  For information on this and more, continue to check back all summer.
