NEW ORLEANS, La. (May 26) – The Waynesburg University track & field program added to its list of accolades for the 2009-10 season after earning a trio of awards from the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

Leading the way was sophomore Krystal Baker, who was honored as the USTFCCCA Mideast Region Field Athlete of the Year. Baker qualified for the 2010 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships after setting a new school record in the triple jump. She also set a new program best in the high jump. The second-year standout was lauded as the Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) Women’s Field Athlete of the Year after winning the high jump and triple jump at the PAC Championships.

Assistant coach Chris Hardie was honored by the USTFCCCA as its Mideast Region Women’s Assistant Coach of the Year. Hardie played a key role in getting junior Elisha Jones and sophomore Marybeth Rocco to this year’s national championships in the javelin. Hardie specializes in working with the team’s throwers, who broke and re-broke three program throwing records.

Rounding out the group is head coach Jason Falvo, who was named USTFCCCA Mideast Region Women’s Head Coach of the Year after leading the Jackets to men’s and women’s team titles at the PAC Quad South Meet and leading the women to their second-straight runner-up performance at the conference championships. His three entries into the national championships also set a school record.
