White leads trio of Jackets on All-PAC baseball teams

Senior second baseman named first-team; Hanning and DeFilippo make second team

WEXFORD, Pa. (May 18) – Senior second baseman Wes White Jr highlighted a trio of Yellow Jackets who were listed on the 2010 All-Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Baseball Teams.

 

White was honored as a first-team selection for the third-straight season. He was joined by junior first baseman Bill Hanning and junior shortstop Anthony DeFilippo, who were both listed as second-team honorees for the first time since coming to Waynesburg.

 

White not only led the Jackets in virtually every offensive category, he was also one of the best hitters in the PAC. He led the conference in on-base percentage (.579) and walks (32), while also ranking in the top 10 in batting average (.436, 4th), slugging percentage (.684, 7th), runs scored (56, 2nd), triples (5, 2nd) and stolen bases (18, 4th). At the end of the regular season, his on-base percentage had him ranked sixth in Division III, while his 1.56 runs scored per game was good for 11th.

 

Hanning ranked second on the Yellow Jackets and 10th in the PAC in batting average (.414). He also ranked second on the team and sixth in the conference in doubles with 12. The Claysville native finished fifth on the Jackets in RBI (24) and second in runs scored (29).

 

DeFilippo hit .324 while starting every game but one for Waynesburg in 2010. His 28 RBI was the third-highest total on the team. He also scored 28 runs, which tied him for third on the Jackets. In the field, DeFilippo led the team in assists with 108.

 

2010 PAC Most Valuable Player honors went to Washington & Jefferson senior Jim Pasquine, while 2010 PAC Pitcher of the Year laurels went to Thomas More sophomore Paul Uhl. Bethany's Rick Carver was honored as PAC Coach of the Year.
