Men's golf competes at Bearcat Invitational

LATROBE, Pa. (April 15) – Led by senior Josh Mollica, the Waynesburg University men's golf team tied for 10th place at the 2010 Saint Vincent Bearcat Invitational, which was held at Latrobe Country Club this past Thursday.

 

The Yellow Jackets tied with Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) rival Thiel for the number-10 spot after each team fired four-man scores of 343 in the 14-team field. Mollica tied for 24th in the individual rankings after carding a nine-over 81. Freshman Colin Wilson followed Mollica with a 14-over par score of 86. Junior Kyle Kyper and junior Kevin McIlwain rounded out the four accepted scores with totals of 87 and 89, respectively. Senior Ryan Work fired a 91, which did not count towards the team's score.

 

The Gold Team of host Saint Vincent won the event with a 288, which was 17 strokes lower than second-place West Liberty State. California University of Pa. rounded out the top three in the team standings. Saint Vincent's Steve Fiori took home individual medalist honors after firing a five-under 67.

 

The Jacket men are scheduled to return to action on Saturday, April 17, when they travel to the Greens at Greenville to take part in the Thiel College Invitational.
