KISSIMMEE
, Fla.
(March 8) – The Waynesburg University softball team dropped a pair of contests at the Rebel Games in Kissimmee, Fla. on Monday.

In game one of the double header against nationally ranked NAIA member Marian University, the Yellow Jackets fell by a score of 7-1. Junior pitcher Amanda Baughman took the loss surrendering all seven runs.

Even with the lopsided score, the majority of the Knights’ runs came in the first two innings of the contest. The Yellow Jackets were able to hold their own throughout the rest of the game.

The lone run scored for the Lady Jackets came in the seventh inning. Junior second baseman Katie Rihn drew a walk to lead off and was driven all the way around to score by Baughman with an RBI double to the right field fence.

Eastern Mennonite University was the second opponent of the day and topped the Yellow Jackets 9-0. Junior pitcher Kristen Lautenschlager suffered the loss but only allowed two earned runs on six hits. Freshman shortstop Rachael Moon picked up Waynesburg’s only hit in game two with a double down the left field line.

The Yellow Jackets have an off day on Tuesday and will be back in action Wednesday morning. They will face Dubuque University at 9 a.m. and Adrian College at 11 a.m.
