0305 Garber vs. Bjork

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (March 6) – Junior 133-pounder Nick Garber wasn’t able to carry his momentum over from a very successful Friday evening at the NCAA Division III National Wrestling Championships to Saturday morning’s third session.

Garber dropped into the seventh-place match after running into a buzz saw in William Livingston of Centenary. The powerful Livingston was in total control of the match and picked up a 16-2 major decision win that put him into the consolation semifinals.

After Garber was taken down in the first period, he was able to escape and keep the match close early. However, after trimming the deficit to one point (2-1), Livingston took over and went on for the win.

Garber’s next opponent will be one he knows very well, Thiel sophomore Corey Brown, who lost a hard-fought 3-2 decision to SUNY Cortland’s Aljamain Sterling. Brown and Garber have met three times this year, with Garber winning two of the contests. The last time they met was in the NCAA Division III Midwest Championship bout, which the Garber won 6-0.
