Waynesburg's Scott Cree was named MVP of the annual All American Bowl after scoring two long touchdowns as a wide receiver.
CHARLESTON, W.Va. (March 31) – During three years with the Waynesburg University football team, Scott Cree proved to be a dangerous an talented player as a defensive back and a kick and punt returner.
During his time with the Jackets, he intercepted nine passes and took two back for touchdowns, including a return of 100 yards last season. He was even more explosive as a kick and punt returner. His four kick return touchdowns and three punt return touchdowns were big reasons why he was named a two-time All-American.
However, on Saturday, March 27, he proved that he can also make an impact on offense as well. While playing in the All-American Bowl all-star game in Charleston, W.Va., Cree played his first game at wide receiver since coming to the Jackets. Despite the move to the offensive side of the football, the speedster still showed his propensity for the big play.
The highly decorated Waynesburg standout caught just two passes, but made the most of it by racking up 129 yards receiving and two touchdowns (51,78). For his efforts, Cree was named MVP of the contest, while playing for the Stripes team. His two scores led the Stripes past the Stars by the score of 20-17.
Staying true to his roots, Cree also got to do some work in the return games. He was joined in the game by senior teammate Jared Bussard, who saw extensive time on the field while playing on the offensive line.
