WAYNESBURG, Pa. (March 31) – After picking up Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) accolades for their performances this past week, freshman baseball player Anthony Longo and sophomore track and field athlete Krystal Baker were also bestowed the honor of being named the latest Waynesburg University Athletes of the Week.

In his collegiate debut on the mound, Longo pitched a complete game for the Yellow Jacket baseball team in their 2-1 victory over Thiel on March 26. He gave up just six hits and one walk on the afternoon, while striking out two.

Longo's impressive outing on the hill earned him PAC Pitcher of the Week honors.

Baker placed in the top three of three different field events at the Bill Horne Invitational this past Saturday, earning her the PAC Women's Field Athlete of the Week award for the second time in as many years at Waynesburg.

The second-year standout really shined in the high jump, which she won with a leap of 5' 3”. That effort set a new women's school record and qualified her for the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships.

Along with her win in the high jump, Baker placed second in the triple jump with a hop, skip and a jump of 35' 4” and placed third in the pole vault after clearing 9' 6.25”. She also played a major role in the Jacket women's seventh-place finish in the 17-team event by scoring 23.5 of Waynesburg's 61.5 team points.

Baker, Longo and their teammates will be in action before heading home for Easter. The Waynesburg track team will compete in the Washington & Jefferson Invitational this Saturday, while the baseball team plays at Grove City on Wednesday, March 31, and then hosts the Wolverines for a doubleheader on Thursday, April 1.
