EDEN PRAIRIE, MINN. (March 17) – Two Waynesburg University football players have been selected to play in the 2010 All American Bowl Football All-Star Game in Charleston, W.Va. on March 27.

Seniors offensive lineman Jared Bussard and return specialist/defensive back Scott Cree were each bestowed the honor.

Both Bussard and Cree were named Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Southwest Football All-Stars and first-team All-Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC).

Bussard, a four-year starter for the Yellow Jackets, was a first-team All-Presidents’ Athletic Conference selection in 2009 after spending his sophomore and junior years on the second team.

Cree came into this past season as an All-American returner, and despite teams kicking away from him for most of the season, the Waynesburg native still managed to take a kickoff back 81 yards for a touchdown, and he also scored on defense, returning an interception 100 yards for the Jackets.

The All-American Bowl is designed to bring the nation’s top Division II and III college seniors and free agents together in an All-Star Bowl format. Many players have advanced their football careers after playing in the game, including current New England Patriot punter Chris Hanson and running back Maurice Hicks, formerly of the Chicago Bears, San Francisco 49ers and Minnesota Vikings.

This year’s contest will feature mostly players from east coast football teams due to the location and will feature pre-game events, such as a scouting combine and practice. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:05 p.m.
