Jacket mat men earn second-straight Winter Team Sportsmanship Award

WEXFORD, Pa. (March 16) – For the second-straight year, the Waynesburg University wrestling team was honored for its behavior and demeanor on the mats by the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC).

The Yellow Jackets were honored with the PAC Winter Team Sportsmanship Award for wrestling, just as they were last year. The lauding is the second conference team award earned by head coach Ron Headlee's team, as they also won the school's first-ever PAC Wrestling Championship on February 12.

This award is sponsored by the members of the PAC Student-Athlete-Advisory Council (SAAC), in an effort to recognize and encourage positive sportsmanship among the conference teams. The SAAC is a committee comprised of student-athletes from each member institution assembled to provide insight on the student-athlete experience.

This is the second year the team sportsmanship awards will be given out in each of the 19 PAC-sponsored varsity sports. Each PAC team was asked to vote for the conference team in their sport who displayed the highest level of sportsmanship. The awards will be handed out at the conclusion of the fall, winter and spring seasons.

Grove City College picked up the sportsmanship awards from women's basketball and women's swimming & diving. Thomas More was lauded in men's basketball, as was Saint Vincent in men's swimming & diving.
