WAYNESBURG, PA (Feb. 5) – The Waynesburg Yellow Jackets will play host to West Virginia University tonight at 7:30pm in the Rudy Marisa Field House and travel to Duquesne University to take on the Dukes and Geneva College at the A.J. Polumbo Center at 5:00pm on Saturday, February 6th.

The Jackets suffered two losses at Robert Morris University against RMU and Duquesne and are looking to rebound with wins against the Dukes and the Geneva College Golden Tornadoes.  “We have been pretty banged up and some of our key players have been fighting the flu the last week or so making this a tough start this season” explained Head Coach James Patterson.  The Jackets held much of the momentum through their match with Duquesne as well as RMU but were unable to overcome service errors that eventually cost Waynesburg both matches.  “You can’t expect to pull out wins against good teams when you are missing serves all through the match.  It just kills your momentum” added Patterson.

The Jackets will be look for productive outings from junior outside hitter Jake Reynolds and junior right side, Jesse Famularo who combined for 15 kills in their last match.  Waynesburg has begun producing big numbers offensively having already totaled more kills in three matches than they did the first half of last season.  Middles, Joel Wingard and Nikolai Wojciechowski have been effective closing blocks and grounding opponent’s middle attacks while adding a combined 7 kills during their last match.

“It will come down to serve receive and rally points.  If we hang with them point for point and take rallies and add quick blocks we will be very effective. It’s all attitude.” stated Patterson.

You can follow the Jackets progress throughout the season right here at the official home of Yellow Jackets Men’s Club Volleyball.  For further information please feel free to contact Head Coach, James Patterson at jpatters@waynesburg.edu or by phone at 724-852-3346.
