NikWoj tips around block against WVU

WAYNESBURG, PA (Feb. 13) – Men’s Volleyball took advantage of all five games in the match against West Virginia University.  After losing the first two sets, (18-25) and (14-25), the Jackets took the next two, (25-17) and (26-24), forcing a fifth set before losing (6-15).

“As a team we played united not as six individuals on the court,” said freshman middle hitter Nikolai Wojciechowski.  “We played excited and with energy and we had fun with it.”

The Jackets’ serving was in good working order after a poor outing against Robert Morris University with a team total 12 aces on the night.  Both blocking and hitting percentages for the team reached a season high during the five set match as well.

Wojciechowski blocked nine kill attempts tying the team’s other middle sophomore Joel Wingard and helping the team achieve the upper hand against WVU.

Opposite hitter junior Jesse Famularo lead in kills with nine while junior outside hitter Jake Reynolds finished with seven.

“I feel we still have some kinks with blocking and hitting,” said junior setter Jake Buss.  “But it’s still early in the season and the second those things click, we will dominate.”.

“The team did well after the slow start,” said Wingard, “We came out firing in the third set and began to have WVU on their toes.  With these big set wins against a Division I school we should have the energy and drive to come out and defeat our next opponents.”
