CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. (Feb. 11) – The Waynesburg University men’s basketball team couldn’t overcome the high octane Thomas More offense on Thursday evening as they dropped a 102-79 Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) contest.

The loss dropped the Yellow Jackets to 2-18 on the season and 0-11 in conference play. With the win, the Saints improved to 17-5 on the year and 8-2 in PAC action. The 102 points given up by Waynesburg are the most in a non-overtime game since giving up the same total to Bethany during the 2006-07 season.

During a wide-open first half, Thomas More built a 65-37 lead before the two teams broke for the locker room. The Jackets responded by out-scoring the Saints 42-37 in the second half, but it was too little too late. Despite the difference on the scoreboard, Waynesburg actually out-rebounded their opponents 50-36. A big reason for the Saints’ victory was Thomas More making 11 three-pointers to the Jackets’ four.

Waynesburg was led by junior guard #Steven Iser#, who poured in a team-high 14 points. Junior forward Jeff Young just missed out on a double-double by racking up 11 points and pulling down a game-high nine rebounds. Thomas More was led by reserve Johnny Bovard’s game-high 20 points.

The Jackets return to the hardwood on Saturday, Feb. 13, when they travel to Latrobe to face Saint Vincent.
