WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Jan. 28) – Waynesburg University wrestlers Nick Garber and Corbin Semple continue to be listed amongst the top Division III grapplers in the country. Both were ranked in the latest top 10 list put out by the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA).

Despite wrestling well as of late, Garber slipped in the rankings from a top-three spot, to number-10 at 141 pounds. The Waynesburg native has won 13 of his last 14 bouts, with his only loss coming to Jimmy Conroy, the starter for the University of Pittsburgh, at 133 pounds. Six of Garber’s wins came by fall and two more came by way of major decision.

Semple held steady in the middle of the top 10 list and is ranked sixth in Division III. A fellow Waynesburg native, Semple has also won 13 of his last 14 bouts, with his only loss during the stretch coming to a starter from Pitt, Zac Thomusseit. Semple nearly pulled the upset over Thomusseit, but fell 5-2. Four of Semple's 12 latest victories came by pin and three more came by major decision.

The two standouts are a combined 40-7 on the season and are looking to hit their stride as the Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) and NCAA Division III Midwest Regional Championships are quickly approaching. Before these two events, however, the Yellow Jackets must prepare for Division II powerhouse West Liberty State, which Waynesburg faces on Saturday in a dual match.
