BEAVER FALLS, Pa. (Jan. 20) – Despite junior forward Jeff Young posting game highs in points and rebounds, the Waynesburg University men’s basketball team fell on the road to Geneva by the final score of 75-56. The loss moved the Yellow Jackets to 2-13, while the Golden Tornadoes improved to 10-7.

The home team raced out to a 40-19 halftime lead and never looked back against the Jackets, who were hampered by some sub-par three-point shooting. Waynesburg connected on just one-of-15 attempts from beyond the arc, while the Tornadoes converted seven-of-19 from downtown.

In just his second game with the team this season, Young piled up 18 points and eight rebounds. Freshman point guard Ben Altmeyer added 12 points and seven rebounds in the loss. Geneva, which sported five players with at least seven points each, were paced by Rich Colick, who racked up a team-best 17 points on seven-of-eight shooting.

Waynesburg is off until Jan. 27, when they travel to Bethany to face the Bison in a Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) showdown.
