WAYNESBURG, Pa. (May 7) – For all of her achievements on the softball field, Waynesburg senior pitcher Autumn Minor is just as good in the classroom. That point was further proven on Thursday, when she received a prestigious academic award from the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
For the second-straight season, Minor was selected to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District II First Team by CoSIDA. As a first-team all-district selection, Minor will be nominated for consideration for the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American Team. The Jacket standout was a second-team honoree in 2007.
The righty finished her college days with a perfect 4.0 GPA, while majoring in biology/pre-med. This summer she will begin medical school to become a physician.
On the diamond, Minor was named to the All-Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) Softball Team for the fourth-straight year. This season, she led the team in wins (7), strikeouts (89) and ERA (2.41). She also ranked in the top 10 of the PAC in strikeouts and ERA.
This past season also included the Waynesburg native’s first collegiate perfect game, which came in a 1-0 win over Chatham on Apr. 16.
Minor was one of three PAC women to be named to the first team. Joining her were Washington & Jefferson’s Valerie Schultz and Grove City’s Amy Fisher.
