WAYNESBURG, Pa. (May 20) – After being named a 2009 Pre-season All-American by D3Baseball.com, junior second baseman Wes White Jr was hoping he would see his name on that same list after the 2009 season.

On Wednesday, White got his wish as he was named an honorable mention selection to the national website’s 2009 All-American Team.

It is the first postseason All-American award for White, who was one of the top all-around players in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) for the second-straight year.

The Pittsburgh native led the Yellow Jackets and set new college highs in batting average (.438), slugging percentage (.623), on-base percentage (.536), hits (64), homeruns (3), stolen bases (28) and total bases (91).

He also led the PAC in triples (5) and walks (28), while finishing the regular season tied for fourth in all NCAA Divisions with 1.64 runs scored per game. White’s .438 average was the fourth highest in the conference and his 64 hits ranked him second.

This is the latest in an ever-growing list of postseason accolades for the standout middle infielder. This year, he has already been named a first-team All-PAC pick and was selected for the second team of the All-Mideast Region Baseball Teams by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA).

White was one of just two PAC players to receive the honor from D3Baseball.com. The other was Grove City sophomore catcher Marcus Magister, who was a third-team pick.
