Baseball and softball make schedule changes

WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Apr. 6) – The Waynesburg baseball and softball teams recently announced changes to their upcoming schedules.

 

First, locations for a pair of makeup games against Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) opponents have been announced. Both the Apr. 8 contest against Bethany, and the Apr. 15 match-up with Grove City will both be played at Mylan Park in Morgantown, W.Va. Both games will be played at 3 p.m.

 

Also, the non-conference double-header against Penn State Altoona scheduled for tomorrow, has been moved to Apr. 28 and is expected be played at Madison Field in Waynesburg. The first pitch for the makeup date is scheduled for 1 p.m.

 

On the softball side, Waynesburg’s road game at Thiel, which was scheduled for tomorrow, has been moved to Wednesday, Apr. 8. First pitch is scheduled to be thrown at 3:30 p.m.

Nick Garber
Wrestling
Garber beat some of the best Division III wrestlers in the country on his way to finishing seventh at this year’s Division III National Wrestling Championships this past weekend in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. After losing his opening match, Garber bounced back by beating Paul Marcello of Johns Hopkins 8-7 and picking up a dominating 13-6 upset win over fourth-seeded Sean White of Augsburg. The Waynesburg native then secured seventh place by beating Corey Brown of Thiel 13-6. He also became the school's first wrestling All-American since 2001.
Amanda Baughman
Softball
Baughman drilled a three-run double in the third inning of Waynesburg's 4-2 win over Trine to break up a scoreless tie and give the Jackets a 3-0 lead. When she was in the field, the native of Washington, Pa. allowed just two hits and a walk, while picking up a pair of strikeouts. She didn’t allow a hit through the first three innings of the seven-inning affair. She was also named PAC Pitcher and Hitter of the Week.
