CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. (Apr. 25) – The 2009 softball season ended with a thud on Saturday for Waynesburg University when they traveled to face top-ranked Thomas More in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) doubleheader.
After dropping a heart-breaking 3-2 contest in the opener, the Saints pounded the Yellow Jackets 26-0 in a five-inning game. The losses gave the Yellow Jackets a final season record of 14-16, and a 5-9 conference mark. Thomas More further cemented their spot as the number-one team in the PAC with a 12-2 record and a 30-8 overall mark.
It looked like Waynesburg was going to get a win off of TMC in the opener after taking a 2-0 lead on an Autumn Minor homerun. Minor, who got her final collegiate start in the circle, kept the Jackets in the lead until the bottom of the sixth when the Saints tied the game at 2-2.
Thomas More got the win in the bottom of the seventh on a walk-off RBI double.
The senior hurler gave up just two earned runs on nine hits in her collegiate finale. She also struck out five TMC batters.
Game two was one to forget as the Jackets got no-hit by sophomore Dana Bors, while giving up 27 hits of their own and committing five errors.
Sophomore Amanda Baughman suffered the pitching loss.
