Men's tennis finishes third at PAC Championships
Yellow Jackets earn three second-team All-PAC selections

ERIE, Pa. (Apr. 18) – The Waynesburg University men’s tennis team finished in third place at the 2009 Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) men’s tennis championships, which were held at the Pennbriar Athletic Club in Erie, Pa.

 

The Yellow Jackets were led by three second-place finishers, two of which came in singles action. All three were named second-team All-PAC.

 

Sophomore Emile Khoury finished runner-up at fourth singles, while senior Dustin Cozad placed second at number-six singles.

 

Cozad teamed with junior Adam Woodruff to finish second at third doubles.

 

The Jackets scored 23 team points, placing them just behind Washington & Jefferson, which put up a second-place total of 27 points. Grove City cruised to its 19th-straight PAC team title after piling up 54 points.

Though this year's PAC championships are in the books, the 2009 campaign isn't over for the Jackets. They return to the courts on Apr. 24, when they head to Maryland to take on Frostburg State.

Krystal Baker
Women's Track & Field
Baker won the triple jump with a leap of 9.95 meters (32' 7.75"). The sophomore also set a new school record in the high jump (1.57 meters, 5' 1.75") where she placed second for the event. To finish off her strong day Baker placed third in the pole vault with a leap of 2.9 meters (9' 6.25").
Trale Merz
Men's Track & Field

Merz set a new school records in the men’s 200-meter dash at 24.00 seconds and 400-meter dash at 54.19 seconds. He also teamed up with freshman Casey Kaiser, freshman Jon Phelan and junior Jordan Wrask to set a new indoor school record in the 4x200-meter relay by placing third with a time of 1:45.65.
