WEXFORD, Pa. (Dec. 14) – Though the Waynesburg wrestling team suffered a one-point loss to Thiel, the night ended up being a productive one for junior Nick Garber.

For the second time this season, Garber was named Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) Wrestler of the Week after earning a big win early in the match between the Yellow Jackets and Tomcats.

Garber beat 2008-09 PAC Most Outstanding Wrestler and All-American Corey Brown by 7-5 decision on Friday. Garber’s win at 141 pounds gave the Jackets a 6-4 lead, which eventually grew to 10-4 after a win at 149 pounds by sophomore Jesse Byerly. Thiel eventually came back and won the match 17-16.

Garber is now 12-2 on the season and a perfect 5-0 in dual match competition. The Waynesburg native has won four matches in a row, picked up six wins by fall and was ranked fourth by the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) in their latest top 10 rankings.
