Head coach Rick Shepas and his team is looking forward to busy spring and summer seasons before kicking off the 2010 campaign.

WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Nov. 30) – Though it’s only been a little more than two weeks since the end of the 2009 season, the Waynesburg University football team is already looking ahead to the off-season and the 2010 campaign.

Along with the usual spring ball schedule, Waynesburg will also be hosting something new for young players from around the area.

The Yellow Jackets will be holding their first ever flag football league for students in grades three through 12 that go to school in the tri-county area. The league will be held in April and May, and will be broken up into different age groups.

Moving into the summer months, the football team will hold its annual instructional youth summer camp, which will run from July 19-22. Also in the month of July, the Yellow Jackets will hit the golf course on the 24th, when they host their annual golf outing on Saturday, July 24, at the Carmichaels Golf Course.

News has also been released on the Yellow Jackets’ two non-conference opponents for 2010. Along with Wilkes, who the Jackets are scheduled to face on Sept. 11 as part of the “PAC-MAC Football Challenge Series,” Waynesburg will square off with an old familiar face in Frostburg State.

The Yellow Jackets and Bobcats have tussled 39 times since 1961, with Waynesburg holding a 26-12-1 advantage in the all-time series. The game is scheduled for Oct. 23.

Waynesburg and rest of the Presidents’ Athletic Conference will also welcome Saint Vincent in as a full member next year. Geneva is expected to become a full member in 2011.
