The following press release was forwarded to the Penn-Ohio Volleyball League by conference commissioner Paul Pisano.  Please read below for information concerning the latest enhancements to the national club collegiate community.  Waynesburg University Men’s Club Volleyball is proud to become a part of the NCVF during the 2009-2010 season.  You can visit the official site of the NCVF at: http://ncvfvolleyball.org/default.aspx.   Please check back again soon for a letter from Head Coach James Patterson with more specifics concerning this change and the benefits to the Jackets organization.

The National Collegiate Volleyball Federation (NCVF) in cooperation with USA Volleyball will be hosting the 2010 NCVF National Collegiate Club Championship Tournament in Louisville, Kentucky on April 1- 3, 2010.

Gaining momentum from the USA national teams Olympic medal performances in Beijing, USA Volleyball touts a full range of sport-specific and large event expertise and will significantly enhance NCVF efforts to promote affordable and quality opportunities for male and female club athletes throughout the USA. The NCVF is a national organization comprised of volleyball club league commissioners, students and collegiate club representatives who volunteer season-long support for constituent student club organizations across America. It’s partnership with USA Volleyball, the national

governing body for the sport, will bring an unprecedented range of resources to students,

coaches, administrators and supporters. The 2010 Louisville event is endorsed by the following persons and organizations as the official and exclusive 2010 national club championship event for all NCVF teams:

 

  1. Gary Colberg, Founder and Director of the national collegiate club championship      tournament
  2. Jose Jones, Tournament Scheduler and NIVC Commissioner and former Associate Athletic Director at UC Davis.
  3. Ann Pufahl and Michael Jackson, Organizers of women’s collegiate club teams

Byerly picked up Waynesburg’s biggest bout win during a 21-16 loss to West Liberty State, the 12th-ranked team in Division II. The sophomore beat Mitch Smith, the number-two ranked 149-pounder in Division II, by 6-5 decision. Byerly has now won six of his last seven bouts,

Women's Basketball
Jones averaged a team-high 19 points per game for Waynesburg his past week. Her 22 points against Bethany not only led all scorers in that contest, but it was also the top individual scoring performance for a Waynesburg player this season. Jones also averaged three rebounds and an impressive 3.5 blocks per contest.
