Junior linebacker listed on D3Football.com Team of the Week

Junior linebacker Troy Cree rolled up 12 tackles against Thiel en route to being named to the D3Football.com Team of the Week. The Waynesburg native also leads the Yellow Jackets in tackles with 78 total stops.

MINNEAPOLIS, MINN. (Nov. 13) – After recording double-digit tackles for a second-straight week, junior linebacker Troy Cree was named to the prestigious D3Football.com Team of the Week.

 

Cree received the honor after leading the Waynesburg defense in a 38-17 win over Thiel back on Nov. 7. He was one of just 21 honorees on the most recent team released by the website.

 

Against the Tomcats, Cree racked up 12 total tackles, which tied for the game high, and also recorded a game-high 11 solo stops. He added two tackles for loss, a sack and two pass breakups to a productive day.

 

Cree joins junior quarterback Brad Dawson and defensive lineman Matt Krause as Waynesburg players who have been listed as honorees on the D3Football.com Team of the Week. For a complete look at this week’s D3Football.com Team fo the Week, click here.

 

Both Cree and Dawson will join their teammates on Saturday in Washington as they battle Washington & Jefferson in the regular season finale for both teams.

Softball
Baughman drilled a three-run double in the third inning of Waynesburg's 4-2 win over Trine to break up a scoreless tie and give the Jackets a 3-0 lead. When she was in the field, the native of Washington, Pa. allowed just two hits and a walk, while picking up a pair of strikeouts. She didn’t allow a hit through the first three innings of the seven-inning affair. She was also named PAC Pitcher and Hitter of the Week.
Nick Garber
Wrestling
Garber beat some of the best Division III wrestlers in the country on his way to finishing seventh at this year’s Division III National Wrestling Championships this past weekend in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. After losing his opening match, Garber bounced back by beating Paul Marcello of Johns Hopkins 8-7 and picking up a dominating 13-6 upset win over fourth-seeded Sean White of Augsburg. The Waynesburg native then secured seventh place by beating Corey Brown of Thiel 13-6. He also became the school's first wrestling All-American since 2001.
