WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Oct. 31) – The Waynesburg University women’s volleyball team ended the season on a big high note this Saturday as they swept through a visiting Chatham team and took a 3-0 match on senior day.

 

The Jackets (6-20, 3-11) won the match by the set scores of 25-14, 25-20, 25-14. The loss ends Chatham’s season with a 1-25 overall mark and an 0-14 Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) record.

 

The Yellow Jackets’ lone senior, Amber Wallack enjoyed a productive afternoon as she put down a personal-best eight kills on 15 total attempts for an impressive .467 attack percentage.

 

Several Jackets had impressive statistical performances against the Cougars. Sophomore outside hitter Jordan Barton recorded a double-double with a team highs in kills (14) and digs (22). Freshman setter Carly Smithyman also picked up a double-double with a team-best 30 assists and 12 digs.

 

Junior libero Rachell Storm tied for the team-high with 22 digs, while sophomore Carly Schubert chipped in nine kills on the day.

 

The Waynesburg attack enjoyed good team success as they boasted attack percentages of .361 and .349 during the first and third sets, respectively.

Wrestling
Bruni went 3-0 during Waynesburg’s home quad-match against Penn State Greater Allegheny, Penn State Beaver and Penn State Fayette. The sophomore won two matches by major decision and scored a fall in just 31 seconds over Greater Allegheny’s Soham Salvi.
Jessi Drayer
Women's Basketball
Drayer poured in a team-high 21.0 points per game for the 1-1 Yellow Jackets this past week. She was the team’s leading scorer in both games, going for a game-high 23 points against Westminster, before pouring in a contest-best 19 points in a win over Geneva. The Waterford, Ohio native averaged 21 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.5 steals per game this week.
