WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Oct. 20) – Three Waynesburg University wrestlers appeared in Monday's d3wrestle.com national preseason rankings, including two in the top 10.
Junior Waynesburg natives Nick Garber and Corbin Semple both received the number-six spots in their respective weight classes. Both wrestlers earned the accolades after winning NCAA Division III Midwest Regional Championships and advancing to the Division III National Championships.
Garber accomplished the feats at 141 pounds, while Semple did the same at 197 pounds.
Sophomore Jesse Byerly also appeared on the rankings under the “Contender” heading at 149 pounds.
During the program's memorable rebirth in 2008-09, Garber, Semple and Byerly combined to go 75-13 last year with 37 wins coming by pin.

The Waynesburg wrestling team gets their season underway on Oct. 31, when they hold their annual Orange-Black intra-squad duals, which will determine the starters at the various weight classes.
