WAYNESBURG (June 5) – Waynesburg University senior Michelle Propst Cross (Brighton, Col./Faith Christian) received a selection to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District II women’s track & field/cross country Second Team, announced the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Thursday.

This season, Cross posted team-best times in the last five invitationals, including four top-10 finishes. She finished first on the team and sixth overall at the Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) Championships to lead the Yellow Jackets to their fourth-straight, second-place finish. The Colorado native was a three-time, first-team all-conference runner and six-time PAC Runner of the Week during her career.

Cross graduated in December with a cumulative 3.83 grade-point average (GPA) as an English/secondary education major. She was a seven-time member (four cross country, three track & field) of the PAC Academic Honor Roll and also earned a United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) all-academic selection in 2005.

She was a three-year member of Waynesburg women’s track & field team from 2005-2007 before serving as assistant coach this season after graduating a semester early. While on the track, Cross was a two-time, all-conference honoree in the 15000-meter run.

To qualify for the academic all-district honors, student-athletes must maintain a cumulative 3.20 GPA or higher, reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at their institution and participated in at least 50 percent of the team’s games as a starter or important reserve with legitimate athletic credentials.

District II consists of all colleges and universities in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, West Virginia and District of Columbia that are not affiliated with NCAA Division I.
