CAPE COD, Mass. (June 20) – Waynesburg University second baseman
Wes White Jr (Pittsburgh, Pa./Perry) was named to the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) South All-Star Second Team, announced the organization recently.
White, a 5-7 sophomore, led the Yellow Jackets and ranked second in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) with a career-best .432 batting average (60-for-139). The speedy leadoff hitter finished the season ranked eighth in Division III with seven triples, while also standing among the PAC leaders with 60 hits, 21 stolen bases and a .509 on-base percentage.
The Pittsburgh native posted a pair of 15-game hitting streaks during the season and reached base safely in all 36 games played. White, last year's starting shortstop, registered a .975 fielding percentage on 162 chances and turned 19 double plays.
Prior to the ECAC honor, White was a first-team all-conference selection and a first-team all-region honoree by American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA).
White was just one of two players from the PAC featured on the ECAC All-Star teams.
