Morgan receives academic honor

Waynesburg middle hitter Amanda Jo Morgan was recently honored by CoSIDA and ESPN the Magazine for her academic and athletic excellence.

Senior volleyball standout lauded by CoSIDA and ESPN the Magazine

WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Nov. 6) – Senior middle hitter Amanda Jo Morgan was honored by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) by being named to the 2008 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District College Division Volleyball Teams. The announcement was made late Wednesday night.

 

Morgan, a business management major from Perryopolis, Pa., currently sports a 4.0 cumulative GPA and was the only player from a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) school to receive second-team laurels in the college division of district two.

 

Washington and Jefferson's Anna Miskis-Nielson and Monika Linden, along with Grove City's Natalie Liberati, were third-team honorees.

 

Morgan has also been a three-time member of the All-PAC Academic Honor Roll.

 

On the court, Morgan is the team's leader in solo, assisted and total blocks with 127 total swats. She also finished the regular season in second place for total blocks in the PAC.

 

The Jacket volleyball team is currently gearing up for their PAC semifinal match at Westminster this Friday.
