BEREA, Ohio (Feb. 6) – The trip through one of the largest snow storms in recent memory proved to be worth it for the Waynesburg University wrestling team as the Yellow Jackets placed second at the John Summa Invitational, which was held by Baldwin-Wallace College on Saturday.

ERIE, Pa. (Feb. 3) - With several of its usual starters out for various reasons, the Waynesburg wrestling team was overwhelmed by a powerful Gannon squad on Wednesday. The Golden Knights won nine of 10 bouts and picked up a 39-3 victory.

Not only was it senior night for four Yellow Jacket grapplers, but the Murdock men, a group of Waynesburg alumni who support the program, were also in attendance for an annual get-together.

Jones averaged a team-high 19 points per game for Waynesburg his past week. Her 22 points against Bethany not only led all scorers in that contest, but it was also the top individual scoring performance for a Waynesburg player this season. Jones also averaged three rebounds and an impressive 3.5 blocks per contest.

Byerly picked up Waynesburg’s biggest bout win during a 21-16 loss to West Liberty State, the 12th-ranked team in Division II. The sophomore beat Mitch Smith, the number-two ranked 149-pounder in Division II, by 6-5 decision. Byerly has now won six of his last seven bouts,
